Ugh, you ever have one of those days when you just can’t get anything to work out the way you want it to? Yeah. I’m having one of those right now. Nothing too bad, just little things that keep adding up to everything going against me. Fuck it! I’m going to start my day over again.
You know you can that right? Just sit down for a few minutes and fucking breathe. Take a couple of deep breaths and just reset. It’s amazing how renewing that can be. We don’t have to be content with having a bad day. I remember that things will get better when I change my mindset and you know what happens? My day gets better.
Just like that, you can reset. It doesn’t automatically make everything rosy and perfect, but it can give you a new perspective. Of course, what the hell do I know? Not much to be honest. I can only tell you what has helped me and this is one of those things. I’ve been in or around therapy, support groups, or self-help books my whole life so I’ve got some tools in my back pocket, if you know what I mean. I can deep breathe with the best of them.
One thing that all of those things have taught me is to verbalize what is going on in my head. Whether that is by writing or talking to my friends or just saying it out loud to myself, I don’t allow the bad things to take up too much space anymore. I protect my peace even from myself. I’ve worked too hard for that peace to let it go easily.
Find your peace. It’s not easy, but nothing worth having ever is. If you haven’t heard that before, let me be the first to tell you. All the good things take work. Sometimes, that work is wholly internal. Other times, it takes a village to get you through it. However, I know that there is a light at the end of this tunnel. I can reset any time I need to. So can you.
